WELCOME TO OUR FIRST EVER BLOG POST!
OUR FIRST EVER BLOG POST!
Hello - thanks for being here!
I know, I know. This has been on my ‘to do’ list for years (literally). But I’m finally getting there with sorting out our marketing and online offerings. It’s been a huge job so far - and I’m sure there’s plenty more to learn. But thanks for joining us here.
As I’m sure you have all seen by now, things are getting extremely busy over here as we begin the final preparations for the big Christmas rush!
Our Christmas hams are being made by the butcher as we speak and will be all ready to collect on Thursday! It’s such an exciting (and nerve-wracking) time for us in this final push. We have worked so hard all year and this is the last hurrah before we take a (much needed) break away from the farm as a family…
We have been talking about doing a family holiday overseas for the past few years, but the challenges of staffing and running the farm have been too much previously and we haven’t felt able to be able to leave the farm for any length of time. Fortunately, we’ve got an amazing team here currently and we feel more than confident that they will be able to manage things whilst we’re away - and hopefully meaning that we can ACTUALLY switch off! So, it’s happening. We’re going to Fiji for a couple of weeks and I cannot WAIT.
Obviously, there’s a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then as it’s our final push over the next 2 weeks for our Christmas orders - including our highly anticipated Berkshire Christmas hams and we’ve been selling lots both at markets and via our online shop! Having the Christmas hams has proven to be a huge point of difference for us and to be able to offer them to our growing customer base has been nothing short of amazing.
We’ve still got plenty more available, so if you’re on the bench and not fully sold - we would absolutely love your support this Christmas. It really does mean the world to us and allows us to continue doing what we do! There is a whole section on our website of Christmas offerings - you can check them out below!

There’s also lots happening on the farm, both to make the most of this time of year (hello longer days and sunshine…) and to really try and get the most production that we can for this period where demand is high! We had new pullets (laying hens) arrive yesterday, so that’s exciting! They are also a few weeks older than the hens we usually get - so we’ve already started getting some eggs from them!
This weekend is the first weekend of our Christmas order collections, so we have got lots of organising to do between now and then - as well as all of the usual farm happenings, family commitments and me thinking it will be a great time of year to start a blog too! (Hahah). Anyway, I know it will all be worth it and I really want to find another avenue to be able to share, write and really give a glimpse into other aspects of our business…
I’m thinking: recipes, health and nutrition, more BTS information about what’s happening and why we do what we do…. Plus much more I’m sure! If you have any ideas, we’d love to hear from you.
We’ve got more on this afternoon with a car to pick up from Albany after being serviced, the kids have their final session of street acro which they have loved and I guess we had also start thinking about dinner tonight too!
Thanks again for joining us and we’ll be sharing more very soon!
